Congratulations on taking this step.  One of the first tasks will be to find a therapist who you feel comfortable with.  Fit is important.  Here are some of the services I offer:

Individual Psychotherapy

Picture

I work with individuals from adolescence through late adulthood.  I offer psychodynamic, trauma-focused and mindfulness-informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).  I start with a complimentary phone consultation to hear more about what you are looking for in treatment, and to answer any questions you may have.  We can then schedule an in-person consultation.  You can read more about my approach in detail here.

Couple's Psychotherapy

I offer couple's therapy, using a strengths-based and comprehensive approach to help couples understand and address dynamics in their relationship that may be leading to conflict, harness positive elements and help make the difficult decision about whether to stay together or separate.  It is a common misconception that only couples whose relationships are "in trouble" seek couple's therapy.  It can be helpful at any stage of a relationship to boost overall satisfaction and forestall potential problems down the road.

Group Psychotherapy

I offer a once-weekly process group.  A group setting can be extremely useful as a means of gaining support, promoting understanding of oneself in relation to others, and addressing ongoing interpersonal struggles. It is possible to do group psychotherapy alongside, or instead of, individual therapy.

Payment and Insurance

The only insurance plan I accept at this time is Aetna Student Health Insurance for students of Columbia University.  Otherwise, you will need to pay my fee directly, and, if you have out of network benefits, you may be able to be reimbursed for a portion of the session.
I do offer a sliding scale (reduced fee) on a case-by-case basis for those patients who need financial accommodations. I believe it's important to be transparent and realistic about the cost of therapy.  We can talk further about this during our phone consultation, where I can answer questions you may have and help you identify questions to pose to your insurance company.

Location

My office is located at 26 Court Street, in Brooklyn Heights.  It is conveniently located to both Manhattan and other areas of Brooklyn.  It is directly off of the 2/3/4/5 at Borough Hall, R train at Court Street, and a short walk from the A/C/G/F at Hoyt Schermerhorn.
