Dr. Berger completed her doctoral degree at Loyola University Chicago, her internship at New York Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center and her postdoctoral fellowship at Columbia University Counseling and Psychological Services. She is in private practice in Brooklyn. She is former faculty at Columbia University Medical School and Mount Sinai Medical Center, and current faculty at City University of New York. In those roles she has provided clinical support and supervision for Ph.D. graduate students, pre-doctoral interns and psychiatric fellows.
She has a wide range of experience across multiple settings, including college counseling, hospital outpatient and inpatient care, community mental health, and neuropsychological assessment. She utilizes primarily psychodynamic and trauma-focused techniques, and time-limited CBT treatment for mood symptoms and insomnia.
