Dr. Berger completed her doctoral degree at Loyola University Chicago, her internship at New York Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center and her postdoctoral fellowship at Columbia University Counseling and Psychological Services. She completed advanced training in trauma treatment at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies, and is trained in EMDR. She is fully licensed in New Jersey and New York, and offers both telehealth and in-person sessions (at her office in NJ). She is former faculty at Columbia University Medical School and City University of New York, and current faculty at Mount Sinai Medical Center and the National Institute for the Psychotherapies. In those roles she has taught classes on trauma as well as provided clinical support and supervision for Ph.D. graduate students, pre-doctoral interns and psychiatric fellows.
She has a wide range of experience across multiple settings, including college counseling, hospital outpatient and inpatient care, community mental health, and neuropsychological assessment. She utilizes primarily psychodynamic and trauma-focused techniques (including EMDR).
